The youth and children's choirs sing once a month during the 10:30 service; on those Sundays, there are Sunday School classes for children pre-k through 2nd grade.
Our Sunday school curriculum is from the "One Room School Series." Each Sunday, children are grouped in age-appropriate classes and all study a common theme, supplemented with activities and craft projects.
Children are
welcome in church at any time and there are books, crayons, and paper for them
at tables and small chairs behind the pews.
For information, please call the Parish Secretary, Sarah Richtmeyer, at (607) 273-6532.
Class for adults who are specially challenged: For over twenty years. St. John's has
offered a Sunday morning class with worship, activities, and fellowship for adults
who are developmentally challenged. It is an ecumenical class in which we seek
to convey the love of Christ. The class has been recognized as a Jubilee Ministry of the Episcopal Church.
Acolyte
Program: Many of the older children
(fifth grade and above) participate as acolytes. They
are a valued part of our worship. For information, please e-mail Karen
Comisi, head of acolytes, or contact the parish office (273-6532) and leave a message with Sarah Richtmyer, our parish secretary.
Youth Programs:
The Diocese of Central New York has a strong
Youth Program for middle school and high school students, and the diocese sponsors conference and retreats that St. John's
actively participates in.
Education for Ministry: This is a four-year program for adults developed by the School of Theology of the University of the South that covers the basics of a theological education in bible, church history, liturgy, and theology. Participants meet weekly with a trained and certified mentor. Please contact Jim Johnson or the church office (273-6532) if you are interested. Everyone is welcome.
