About Ithaca

Outreach Committee

Special Projects

In addition to responding to needs in the Ithaca community, St. John’s Outreach Committee participates in helping others throughout the world. In 2004, we provided clothing for Liberian refugees who settled in Syracuse, New York. In 2005, we provided Christmas gifts and meals for three Ithaca families which included 13 children. Our attention now is focused on helping St. Paul’s parish in New Orleans recover from Hurricane Katrina. We began by holding a raffle which brought in $545.50. With additional help from the vestry we will be able to send St. Paul’s a nice sum.

The committee is presently considering other ways to help St. Paul’s and the Louisiana area recover from the hurricane.

Members of the parish volunteer at the Ecumenical Pantry at the Salvation Army.

Each year we support the national effort to relieve world hunger by participating in the Crop Walk.

Every Sunday we provide a Sunday School Class for those with special needs.

The Campbell Soup Label Program has continued to support the Caroline School District.

The United Thank Offerings help support Diocesan needs in the nation and world.

Loaves and Fishes, one of Ithaca’s long time programs to provide food and assistance to the homeless or disadvantaged persons in the community, uses St. John’s space for their program. In addition, members of the parish volunteer for Loaves and Fishes.
